Day 10 God’s Law is Eternal

Day 10

God’s Law is Eternal

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one title will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:17-20)

Believer’s obedience to the Eternal Law is the 2nd pillar

Believer’s obedience to the Eternal Law of God is the 2nd pillar that holds the temple of Truth.

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”  (Amos 3:3)

Certainly not!  Two can never walk together unless they agree.  You can never walk with Christ unless you agree that He is Lord over your life, and that He has authority over the universe and everything therein.  So if you believe that Jesus is Lord, why not do what He says?

“But why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46)

Dear beloved, Jesus without His law over our lives is the same as a king without a crown.  For you to be a ruler or a lord over certain people, it is necessary for those people must obey you and do what you say.  Therefore the question:

“But why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46)

So, if you say that you love the Lord Jesus, and that He is your Lord and Savior, but you don’t keep His commandments, sorry to say this, but you are, according to Scripture, a liar.

“By this we know that we love the children of God, and we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”   (1 John 5:2-3)

Before a country can exist, a constitution of rules must be drafted to govern the lives of its citizens. For example, before a nation was born in South Africa in 1994, the two parties that were in conflict had to agree to the laws that would govern the lives of its citizens.  This is called the Freedom Charter.  No country exists without a constitution or rules to govern the lives of its citizens.  Without such rules, a country would be in chaos.
If we then, being evil, know how to organize ourselves that we may keep order in our little countries, how much more will God, who alone is wise, the Architect of life, the Creator of the heavens and earth and seas, and everything therein, govern us.  Amen!  Would not God draft a law that would govern the lives of all His creatures prior to creating them?  Certainly!  Now God’s revealed law is called the Ten Commandments.  This is God’s constitution of love.  And every citizen of the kingdom of God must be obedient to His law.

He who doesn’t obey shall be cast out like the devil, for he is the one who disobeyed first.  Now the devil seeks sympathy from all other creatures to join him in his rebellion against God.  Brethren, do not be deceived.  Do not join the sons and daughters of disobedience.  Stay away from those who say the commandments of God are void and irrelevant. He who says that he loves the Lord Jesus, but does not keep His commandments, is a liar. The Lord Jesus said:

“If you love ME, keep my commandments.”  (John 14:15)

The commandments of God will never be void.  As long as God exists, there will be His law to govern His creation. For the commandment is love, and as long as God exists, we shall surely love God and love others as ourselves eternally.
That is why the Lord Jesus said:

“Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one title will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.”  (Matthew 5:17-18)

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”  (Matthew 24:35)

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever.”  (Isaiah 40:8)

The Law of God is the revealed will of God.  God gave the Law to men because He loves us; therefore it is the Law of love.  For us to live in perfect harmony with God, it is very important that we observe and abide by the Law of God, and show that we agree with Him that His Law is good and holy.

“Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” (Romans 7:12)

These days, there are those who believe that the Law of God is void.  How can the Law of love be void?  It is impossible.  The requirements of the Law for righteousness is void, not the Law of God.  Truly speaking, the standards of the requirements of the Law for righteousness in the New Testament, are much higher than in the Old Testament! For, if under the Old Covenant sin was only when you act upon it, in the New Covenant you sin just by looking, thinking, and meditate on it in your heart! Therefore by the Law no one will be saved.  For we are saved by grace; not by our works or our efforts.  We are saved by grace and by grace alone.  It is impossible for any of us to keep the Law of God, the Ten Commandments, as explained by Christ in the New Testament.  No man can keep the Law--not even Moses, who was on Mount Sinai when God wrote the Law on the tablets.  Seeing that the Law of God is a spiritual Law, no carnal man was or ever will be able to keep the Law. However, we thank God for His goodness.  When we are born in Christ, we become spiritual beings, enabling us through Christ to keep the Law by the grace of God, which simply means that, when we abide in Christ by faith, Christ’s obedience to the Law of God is credited to us in form of righteousness. Hallelujah, Amen!

What is the purpose of the Law then? Well, the Law stands as witness against us, that there is none righteous, no, not even one. For none of us can fulfill the divine requirements of the Law.  Therefore we all agree that:
“… the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” (Romans 7:12)

Now in this God is glorified for His grace, mercy and kindness towards us who believe that Jesus paid all the divine requirements of the Law that stood against us.

The Law, the Ten Commandments, is part of the New Covenant:

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD; I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”  (Hebrews 10:16)

And again:

“….You are the temple of the living God. As God has said
‘I will dwell in them
 I will walk among them.
 I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.’”  (2 Corinthians 6:16)

So if we are the temple, the tabernacle of God, and if God dwells in us, then the Law has to be kept in us.  We do not keep the Ten Commandments to be SAVED; rather, we keep the Ten Commandments as a testimony that we are indeed SAVED!   God dwells in our hearts and His Law is written in our hearts as a fulfillment of the New Covenant.

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD; I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”  (Hebrews 10:16)

“clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.” (2 Corinthians 3:3)

The manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit is only seen in those who obey God, that is, the fruit of the Spirit comes as a result of obedience to God.

“Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”  (Romans 3:20)

“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, ‘You shall not covet.’”
(Romans 7:7)

“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.  What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!”  (Romans 6:14-15)

“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”  (Romans 3: 21-26)

“Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.”  (Romans 3:31)

My beloved, we establish the Law of God, the Ten Commandments, in our hearts through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.  The Commandments and faith:  we must keep them both.

“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”  (Revelation 14:12)

To preach the faith of Jesus Christ, the power of His blood, His death on the cross, and His resurrection, without His Law, is to say that Jesus is King, but that His crown is removed.  How can Jesus be King and Lord if His subjects do not obey Him?  Pay attention to what the Lord Jesus is saying:

“But why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46)

“If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.  For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ also said, ‘Do not murder.’  Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.”  (James 2:8-12)

Let us therefore believe, fear, trust, and obey!

Finally, my dear beloved, my companion in the LORD, you who are precious and priceless in the eyes of God our Father, do not let the sons of disobedience deceive you in believing that the law of God is void, for as you can see according to  (James 2:8-12)  we will be judged by the Law.
For there is an evil movement going around removing the Ten Commandment from courts, public places, from schools, and if we allowed them, they will erase it from our memories.
The law of God my dearly beloved, is eternal, it will never be void. Though man try to destroy it with all their mighty, the Law will stand, for its no longer written in tablets of stone, but in the hearts of those who believe, fear, trust and obey God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Therefore my dear beloved, please do not let disobedience hinder your prayer from being answered.

“And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.”
 (1John 3:22)

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.  Amen!

Meditation:  Jesus Christ is my Lord, Savior, and King.  He deserves my complete obedience.

Prayer points:  LORD JESUS, please write Your laws in my heart and help me by Your grace to obey them through the power of the Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen!

Commitment:  I commit myself by Your grace, oh Lord Jesus, to be a law-abiding citizen of the Heavenly kingdom, to the Glory of God the Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen!
